I.       TEAMS
Any congregation may enter as many teams as it desires.   Four members compose each Junior and Senior High team.   Junior High teams are composed of 7th, 8th, and 9th graders and Senior High teams are composed of 10th, 11th, and 12th graders.   Younger students can compete in the older division, but older students cannot compete in the younger division.   A team member may not play on more than one team.   All teams will compete through all four rounds.   The composite scores at the end of the fourth round decide winners.   There is NO FINAL ROUND!

II.      QUESTIONS
All questions are worded so that you can study from the New International Version of the Bible (1984 ed.).   NO QUESTIONS OF INTERPRETATION WILL BE ASKED!   There will be 25 questions with multiple choice answers asked per round.   There will be three options per question (A,B,C).   All questions and multiple-choice answers will be repeated once.   All questions will come from I Samuel (all 31 chapters).   There will be three possible answers per question with one of the three being the correct answer.

III.    POINTS
Each team member will have an opportunity to make points for his/her team on each question. One correct will be worth 10 points; two will be worth 20 points, etc…
Each team member will have an answer sheet in which to privately show his/her answer (there will also be sheets of paper to cover answers with…).

IV.     ANSWER SYSTEM
1.  Answer sheets (bubble sheets) will be used to mark answers.
2.  Answers are to be marked at the time when “answer now” is called.
3.  If two or more answers are marked on the answer sheet for the same question, that answer will be marked incorrect.
4.  The letters A,B,C will be provided on the answer sheet.   These will be used to show the answers.

V.      OFFICIALS
Judge;  Is (in general) in charge of operations.   In any disputed question or answer, his ruling will be final, with no further discussion.   He also keeps track of allotted time for “think” periods on each question.
Quizmaster;  In charge of reading the questions.
Scorekeeper;  Responsible for tabulating the progressive scores at the end of each round.    Scorekeeper may get assistance to help post scores so all may see.

NOTE:   Coaches or Players;   May not question the validity of any question DURING the round.   There will be one coach per team.   Questions may be “challenged” after the round is over if there are concerns about the validity or accuracy of questions/answers given.   If a question is judged to be completely invalid after the round, all participants will receive credit for a correct answer for that question.   At the end of each round, scores must be turned in to the scorekeepers (& helpers) for tabulation (use the envelopes provided).    Coaches will be responsible for turning in their team (four individual) answer sheets at the end of each round (use the envelopes provided).     Any team failing to turn in their answer sheet (scan-cards) on time will receive a zero for that round.

VI.    GENERAL INFORMATION
1.  The round will be ended when 25 questions have been asked and answered.   We will have a 1 minute stretch after question #15 during each round.   Questions will be read only after all coaches are seated (this will signify that their team is ready).
2.  Each round of competition will be approximately 40 minutes in length.   There will be a short break at the end of each round.   Team members and spectators are free to visit during this break as long as order is maintained.   The Quizmaster is in charge.
3.  We want to recognize the efforts of as many students as possible.   There will be no tie breakers.   If there is a tie at the end of the four rounds, duplicate awards will be given to the teams that are tied.   Places 1-3 will receive team awards in each division (Jr High, Sr High).
4.  There will be five individual high point awards in each division.    Individual ties will be given “duplicate” awards.
5.  “Pickup” team members will not be able to compete for team honors.
6.  There will not be an essay/poetry competition this year.
