About LTC-Leadership Training for Christ Southwest (LTCSW) is an organization designed to stimulate and encourage Spiritual, mental, and social growth among young men and women in the 3rd through 12th grades. Its mission is to achieve this growth by developing skills in leadership, Bible knowledge, and Christian servanthood.
Skill development in each of these areas is accomplished through participation in a variety of individual and group events that have some end product (like art, drama production, choral presentation, speech or a written documentation of completion of requirements of the event). These events are setup by the LTCSW Board with complete descriptions so that a congregation may easily implement a selection of events in their congregation.
The children are taught, encouraged and mentored by adults in their home congregation. Each Easter weekend, a convention is held in Tucson, Arizona where participants gather to celebrate their hard work. Over the course of the weekend, the “Convention Events” are displayed and skills are utilized in a public setting. There are a host of events that are turned in prior to convention. These are known as “Pre Convention Events” and are also celebrated at Convention through the display of the products from those events. All events take place within the context of a wholesome and supportive environment designed for the purpose of fostering enthusiasm and high achievement among the participants.
The events are divided into grade and gender categories as is appropriate and involve Christian young people from all over the region. Participants are awarded medals for the events they participate in based on the criteria set forth in the Event Rules.
The organization encourages the involvement and support of parents, local church leaders, and other interested adults in the preparation leading to and during the convention. Although the convention primarily consists of achievement events, the weekend culminates in a worship service to reinforce the spiritual aims of the program.
May God be glorified as young people learn to walk in His light through the efforts of Leadership Training for Christ.
